SRAM terminated its partnership

CANYON//SRAM is back to being CANYON//SRAM.

The team announced it has terminated its partnership with Zondacrypto, effective immediately, citing breaches of contract. Zondacrypto’s name isn’t just coming off the jersey; it’s coming with baggage. Zondacrypto is reportedly caught up in a serious mess in Poland, with frozen user funds, a withdrawal crisis, and fraud investigators looking into more than $95 million in alleged losses.

That’s not exactly the kind of sponsor cloud a WorldTour team wants hanging over the bus. So, the Women’s WorldTour squad will race (again) as CANYON//SRAM, while the development team returns to CANYON//SRAM Generation.

Simple enough on paper. In reality? That’s a mid-season rebrand, new kit, updated equipment, digital changes, UCI paperwork, and probably a few very tired people staring at logo files. But these are professionals, and there are no changes to the equipment they are using, so think of it as a new kit colorway.

The team says the transition is already underway, with branding updates across clothing, bikes, online platforms, and official UCI channels expected to be fully wrapped by August 1, 2026.

Not ideal timing. But bike racing rarely waits for a clean pause in action for a sponsor shake-up.

Same Team | Familiar Name

This is not a case of a program suddenly looking for its footing. CANYON//SRAM has been one of the defining teams in modern women’s cycling for more than a decade, with a resume that includes an overall win at the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, multiple world champion titles, the Zwift Academy, and the creation of CANYON//SRAM Generation.

That Generation program is a big one. It wasn’t just a nice idea bolted onto a WorldTour team. It gave young riders a real pathway into the top level of women’s racing, and it helped set the tone for what development should look like in the sport.

So yes, losing a naming partner mid-season is a headache. But this doesn’t read like a team in panic mode. It reads like a team cutting the cord and getting back to work.

Team Manager Ronny Lauke put it plainly The organization had respected its contractual obligations and legal procedures, but was ready to draw a line and move forward.”

What Lays Ahead – Giro Starts Now, Tour Still Looms

The timing is spicy because CANYON//SRAM’s WorldTour squad heads straight into the Giro d’Italia Women, which starts May 30. The team says it will target both stage wins and GC ambitions in Northern Italy.

The Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift is still on the board, too. The team says its ambitions to fight for the overall at the WorldTour level remain unchanged. In other words, the name on the jersey may be changing, but the race plan isn’t.

Meanwhile, CANYON//SRAM Generation gets a short reset after podium rides across three stage races in the Czech Republic and Austria. The development squad returns June 12 at the Tour Féminin des Pyrénées, with the Col du Tourmalet on the menu.

What Actually Changes?

Mostly the look. The bikes are still Canyon. The drivetrain identity is still SRAM. The structure, riders, staff, and long-term team project remain intact. What changes is the Zondacrypto branding disappearing from the program.

That matters visually, of course. CANYON//SRAM has always had one of the most recognizable looks in the women’s peloton; loud kits, sharp bike paint jobs, and a brand identity that stood out in the bunch. The return to the cleaner CANYON//SRAM name feels familiar because it is.

(The Tour is looming, and we’re all ready. Photo/Zwift)

Behind the scenes, though, this is a pile of work. Updating kits, bikes, websites, social channels, sponsor assets, race registrations, and UCI documents mid-season is not exactly a rest-day massage.

But from the outside, the message is clear: the team is stable, the calendar is moving, and the goals haven’t changed.

The Zondacrypto chapter is over. The double slash remains.

Now comes the harder part: racing like nothing happened.

A few months back, Arizona’s State Bicycle Co. launched a super affordable, fully aero, carbon road frameset. That frameset was a steal at under $1400, and it sold out quickly. Well, today, State expands its high-end road offerings beyond just a frameset with a new Carbon Road Complete using the same popular frameset.

Making their carbon platform accessible to more riders, the complete bikes will start at $2,799. This brings serious race-level carbon production bikes to a more affordable price range than we would typically see in this space.

State’s new Carbon Road frame focuses on three key areas: aerodynamic efficiency for more speed and less effort, lightweight construction for easier climbing and handling, and practical usability for regular road cycling.

The complete builds come in two different layups: Standard and SL. This gives riders frame options based on their performance needs and budget. The same frame design is currently being used in competitive racing and has proven capable on demanding climbs.

So that means that riders get access to geometry and frame construction that’s been put to the test at high levels of performance. The Standard Complete bikes start at $2,800, while the SL Complete bikes save a pound of weight and start at $3,250.

ERE Explorator CCR45 super affordable aero carbon all-road gravel wheels: riding Roubaix cobbles

Pretty much every time I get an email about some new aero carbon tech, it’s accompanied by a staggering pricetag, yet that’s not at all the case with these new ERE Explorator CCR45 wheels. Properly affordable, these new aero carbon all-road and gravel-rated wheels sell for just $699 / £599 / 699€.

And they don’t seem to make any real compromises either.

Wild.

Let’s just jump right in with the ERE Explorator CCR45 details, and first let them speak for themselves:

 • aerodynamic 45mm deep carbon rim profile (365g claimed)
 • 25mm hooked internal rim width
 • hooked tubeless compatible (pre-taped for tubeless, but does not include tubeless valves)

 • custom low-friction 6902 (standard size) sealed stainless bearings

ERE Explorator CCR45 affordable aero carbon all-road wheels: gravel riding

These are a truly budget-friendly option for anyone looking to upgrade a bike with a more basic aluminum wheelset. Or possibly also a great option for someone with either a road or gravel bike, looking to pick up a second wheelset to expand the versatility of their current setup with a different type of tires. All road tires that fit into your road bike, gravel tires that fit into your all-road bike, or faster rolling road slicks to speed up your current gravel bike. A second wheelset means having condition-specific tires without ever having to deal with the sealant mess of tubeless swaps.

And all it will cost you is $699 / £599 / 699€ for the carbon ERE Explorator CCR45 wheelset. Plus, the cost of some new tires, a cassette & rotors since you are trying to get a fast swap going, right?

ERE Explorator CCR45 affordable aero carbon all-road wheels: road climbing

“One wheelset. Every surface.
The Explorator CCR45 combines the speed of a modern aero road wheelset with the stability and control required for gravel and all-road riding.
Thanks to its wide 25mm internal rim width, the wheelset perfectly supports modern tires between 32mm and 55mm, while maintaining full compatibility from 29mm up to 71mm (ETRTO). This makes the CCR45 equally at home on a fast endurance road bike as it is on an aggressive gravel setup.
The hooked carbon rims are fully tubeless-ready and built around a carefully optimized carbon layup for maximum stiffness, durability, and ride comfort.”

How do they compare?

ERE Explorator CCR45 super affordable aero carbon all-road gravel wheels: rim up close

At 1575g, sure there are plenty of lighter mid-depth aero carbon road and endurance all-road wheels, many of which are between 100g lighter, but sometimes as much as 50g heavier than these. Not nearly as many lighter when we factor in that these are tested and approved for gravel, too.

Plus, in most cases, similar carbon wheels cost at least 2x as much as these new ERE wheels. Even the cheapest of those is typically more than $1200/1000€. And with butted stainless spokes and proper brass nipples, these are wheels built to last.

The new carbon Explorator CCR45 wheels are available to pre-order now directly from ERE, expected to come back in stock in just over a week. The wheels include free worldwide shipping, are backed by a Lifetime Warranty against defects, a Crash Replacement program for actual rider-induced damage, and you can even try them risk-free for 30 days and return them if you aren’t satisfied.

But really, they look like they’re gonna be hard to beat.

Bridge Bike Works just expanded production capacity, basically doubling the number of their Surveyor all-road bikes they can produce from their Toronto manufacturing plant. To celebrate, they’ve loaded a a van full of demo bikes in all sizes and sent it criss-crossing North America so you can try them.

They’re also adding Campagnolo build options, including 1x options, which should appear on their site soon. In the meantime, new Shimano GRX 1x kits are available now on gravel builds. For wheels, all base builds now come with ENVE AR40 wheels.

The mobile demonstration fleet will hit major cycling events including Unbound Gravel, Whistler Gran Fondo, Big Sugar Gravel, and numerous regional cycling festivals throughout the spring and summer seasons. The van has standard builds, but the demo team can help setup a fit analysis to help you order the right size and cockpit configuration. Check the full schedule here and follow them on social for pop-ups and new dates as they add them.

As far as production goes, the added capacity also lets them deliver built-to-order full carbon fiber frame built to your specs in under eight weeks. If you haven’t seen them, they’re gorgeous, and doing unique things like a full carbon fiber threaded BB shell. Meaning, the threads themselves are carbon fiber, eliminating bonded metal inserts, and founder Mike Yakubowicz says they’ve been working flawlessly since debuting two years ago. See how they’re made in our Bridge Bike Works factory tour.

The post From Just 1156g at 47-49.5mm Deep, Hunt’s 4AM Wheels Are Both Super Light AND Aero! appeared first on Bikerumor.

]]>
Hunt 4AM Limitless Ti_UD Carbon Spoke aero road wheels weigh just 1156g

With specs like carbon spokes, nearly 50mm mid-depth and super-wide aero carbon rims, class-leading wind tunnel performance numbers, and a total wheelset weight of just 1156g – the new Hunt 4AM Limitless Ti UD Carbon Spoke wheels look pretty amazing.

When Hunt launched their 5AM Limitless ultralight aero wheels with carbon spokes just back in April, we were already surprised at how well they balanced leading aerodynamic performance with an ultralight weight of just 1212g. (And we learned that they were referring to rim depths being Aero Maximised, not ante meridiem, or getting up super early in the morning to ride road bikes.)

And now Hunt are back here again with another, more versatile set of slightly shallower aero carbon wheels, and they’re even lighter still!

Plus, those 5AMs and these new 4AMs also add more affordable and still aero versions with bladed steel spokes, too.

Hunt 4AM Limitless ultralight aero wheels with carbon spokes

(Photos/Hunt)

Hunt describes these new 4AM wheels as optimized for “ultralight responsiveness and category-leading aero efficiency for high alpine racing environments“. But it’s hard for us to just get past the simple fact that they are super aero and ultra-lightweight. Hunt says they are “wind tunnel tested to provide a 1.4-Watt aero advantage over the Tour de France-winning ENVE SES 4.5 Pro, while offering a 139-gram weight savings“, which is pretty wild.

And while these new Hunt 4AM wheels are some of the most expensive the brand has ever sold, they’re still 15% cheaper than Pogi’s wheels.

Key Limitless Aero Maximised Tech

Hunt 4AM Limitless Ti_UD Carbon Spoke aero road wheels: 4AM vs. 5AM

You still get front- & rear-specific 23mm internal hooked carbon rims like the 5AMs, designed to go fastest with modern 28-30mm wide tires. Wider outside and deeper up front, where the wind is cleaner, and where it’s more important to keep airflow attached at higher yaw angles for controllable handling & stability, even in variable winds.

Then, lighter, narrower, and incrementally shallower out back, where there’s less aero effect. And you still only need 15 of the aerofoil bladed Vonoa carbon spokes up front, and 18 in the rear, all with recessed nipples for smooth airflow.

Hunt describes their Limitless aero wheel design as a “more holistic approach”, a 5-stage process that includes initial CFD design, wind tunnel testing with wheel-only, in-bike, and then with a real rider, followed by real-world outdoor testing with AeroSensor drag sensors. That’s how their wheels go from aero design to ‘Aero Maximised’.

What’s new, then for 4AM?

Hunt 4AM Limitless Ti_UD Carbon Spoke aero road wheels, rim sections

Now for the new 4AM, the front rim is 49.5mm deep by 34.2mm outside, again with Hunt’s low-density polymer Limitless Width Aero Tech filler inside that keeps rim weight low. Out back, the rim is 47mm deep x 30mm wide external. Sure, they’re almost 50mm deep, but not quite, hence the 4 in their name. But still about 8mm shorter than the 5AM.

How fast are the new wheels?

Hunt 4AM Limitless Ti_UD Carbon Spoke aero road wheels are faster in the wind tunnel

Hunt says the new 4AM Limitless Ti_UD Carbon Spoke wheels outperform the best mid-depth 40-50mm deep aero wheels on the market. And they do it at both lighter weight and a more accessible (if not quite affordable) pricepoint. Hunt also says the 4AMs are pretty much as fast as some top wheels in the next deeper category, too.

“In wind tunnel testing performed at Silverstone Sports Engineering Hub (both wheels on bike), mounted with 30mm tyres at 45 km/h, the 4AM Limitless Ti_UD wheelset (1156g) tests 1.4 watts faster than the ENVE 4.5 Pro while being 139 grams lighter. Compared to the significantly deeper and heavier DT Swiss 55 ARC Dicut BD (1479g) and Reserve 57/64 Turbulent Aero (1554g) wheels, the 4AM Limitless Ti_UD performs within 0.1 watt.

2026 Cinelli Supercorsa lugged steel road bike: an icon rebourn

Let’s just take a quick break from the latest carbon road, gravel, and mountain super bikes to admire the classic lugged steel Cinelli Supercorsa, which gets a subtle update after having been first introduced 75 years ago. Do you or I really need a brand new, handmade-in-Italy, retro steel road bike – likely the single bike model that has been in production the longest?

Of course, not. But this is more about wants than needs.

And oh dear Saint Madonna del Ghisallo, this is a beautiful bike.

Cinelli Supercorsa lugged road bike gives new life to an icon

Described by Cinelli as the “ultimate classic Italian road bike, in uninterrupted production since the early 1950s”, this year marks a bit of a refresh for the iconic lugged steel Supercorsa.

Don’t worry, Cinelli aren’t messing with the classic.

The Supercorsa remains 100% Made in Italy, designed according to the original specifications perfected in the 60s with its instantly recognizable sloping fork design and fast-back seat stays.

What’s new?

2026 Cinelli Supercorsa lugged steel road bike: 1979 winded-C logo

Instead, they are breathing fresh life into the classic. In fact, they are just giving classic cycling aficionados more personalized choices.

The new Supercorsa is now available in a wide range of 8 classic solid colors, with the new from 1979 winged-C logo. It also now comes in more stock sizes than ever, a much wider 17 stock size range from 48-64cm. Plus, you can get one in custom sizing now, too.

An Italian cycling icon, 75 years running…

First introduced in 1951 by Cino Cinelli and framebuilder Luigi Valsassina for Luigi’s friend, the one and only Fausto Coppi, the Cinelli Supercorsa is the most iconic Italian racing frame of all time. Cinelli’s stated goal was to create “the perfect functional harmony between the three main parts of the frame: the fork, the main triangle and the rear stays”.

This harmony was to be achieved through the development of stiffness, elasticity, aerodynamics and aesthetics, with each component of the frame completely redesigned according to the radical criteria of Cino, the stubborn perfectionist.

The 2026 Cinelli Supercorsa lugged steel road bike frameset is still made by hand in Milan, Italy by Cinelli’s master framebuilders, using custom double-butted Columbus SL (the precursor to modern Spirit) tubing made in-house in Milan, as well. Cinelli CEO Victor Luis describes the classic steel Supercorsa as the “soul” of the bike brand and its craft, “This latest iteration stays true to its legacy and continues to pay homage to Italian steel tradition as an object of desire for riders and collectors alike.

File this under: road bike launches we didn’t see coming. Lego, yes, that Lego, just introduced the Icons Road Bike (11380). This road bike replica kit is fully functional and meticulously detailed, from the working drivetrain to the removable water bottle and rear light. It’s also aero-optimized with deep-section wheels, bladed fork legs, and a modern design that looks kinda like a Colnago Y1Rs, if you ask me.

There are 1,015 pieces in the Icons Road Bike kit. Thankfully, there are 3D instructions available.

The Icons Road Bike is part of Lego’s Icons collection, which includes a wide variety of Lego kits. From the U.S.S. Enterprise and classic cars to Transformers and the Space Shuttle, Lego Icons appear to be aimed squarely at adults. In fact, they are all intended for users 18 and older. I was a child in the 80s and 90s, but I haven’t played with Legos in many years. Still, I definitely got a little nostalgic surfing around on the Lego website. And now they drop a Lego bike? Take my money!

I hope it comes with a pre-waxed chain.

The Icons Road Bike frame is made of many pieces of plastic, of course, and Lego went all in on the details to make it as realistic as possible. That includes front-wheel steering and a functional drivetrain with a freewheel mechanism that allows you to backpedal or let the rear wheel spin on the stand. It has deep-section aero rims, rubber tires with road optimized tread, a derailleur, disc brake calipers and rotors, clipless pedals, shifters, and the aforementioned bottle and rear light.

The only thing that really gives away the fact that it’s not a real road bike is the lack of handlebar tape, or perhaps that’s just to save some weight? Oh, that and it’s also just 14” tall and 23.5” long. Still, Jordan says it wouldn’t last 10 minutes in his house before his youngest kid tried to ride it.

No handlebar tape = unrideable.

Lego Icons Road Bike: Pricing and Availability

With a retail price of just $130, the Lego Icons Road Bike seems like a great value in a market where top-of-the-line aero bikes often run upwards of $15,000. Lego is currently taking preorders, and it starts shipping on June 1, 2026. Head to the Lego website to order one for yourself or your favorite cyclist.

Hutchinson has been making a wide range of tires for all types of riding and riders for many years. Now, the French tire brand has its sights set on entry-level road cyclists with the super affordable new GP Explorer. Hutchinson claims the GP Explorer sets a new benchmark for entry-level road performance, and it was “designed to make high-quality performance accessible to every cyclist, regardless of their budget or experience level.”

According to the brand, the new GP Explorer draws inspiration from the iconic Hutchinson GP1 — “a benchmark road tire of the 1980s” — and has been adapted to meet the performance demands of today’s cyclists. They say it stands out for its balanced combination of performance, durability, and road-holding, thanks to features and construction that set it apart from entry-level competitors.

a close look at the tread on the GP Explorer tire, which is mountd on a road bike.

One of the most notable features of the GP Explorer is the dual-tread compound, a step up from the single compound used in many tires at this price point. Hutchinson says this allows them to balance rolling efficiency and dependable cornering grip, akin to what you might find on more expensive tires.

Along with that, the brand states that they designed the GP Explorer with an “expanded tread area” intended to maximize contact with the road surface to enhance cornering stability and traction. All of the variants and sizes of the GP Explorer are clinchers designed to be used with a tube, which is expected at this price point.

The new GP Explorer is available in two versions intended to suit different needs and preferences, and they are VERY affordable (see below). Claimed weights range from 230g to 310g, depending on the size.

 • Folding Bead: €24.99 / £23.99: featuring a 66 TPI casing for a more supple, performance-oriented ride. Available with black or tan sidewalls in 26, 28, 30, and 32mm widths.
 • Wire Bead: €14.99 / £14.99: built around a 33 TPI casing, prioritising durability and value. Available in black only, in 26 and 28 mm widths

If you remember, Canyon released an all-new CFR-level Endurace line of race-ready, but all-day-capable endurance road bikes, just as Mathieu van der Poel rode it to victory at the E3 Classics opener. That new CFR Endurace is definitely World Tour worthy, with an over $10k price to match. But what Canyon didn’t let out of the bag back in March was that they had a very similar design ready to roll for the “weekend pros” – the rest of us who wash our own bikes. Meet the new Canyon Endurace CF SLX and CF…

The updated Endurace CF SLX and CF lines are built on the reality that road bikes need to be more versatile. Riders want longer rides, wider tires, and one bike that can do almost everything without sacrificing speed.

So instead of tweaking the old formula, Canyon reworked the whole platform around that idea.

The headline changes are obvious enough: 38mm tire clearance (up from 35mm), more aero shaping, updated geometry, adjustable cockpits, integrated storage, and new in-house carbon wheels. But the real story is how all of those pieces come together. It’s a road bike designed for how most people actually ride.

And the entry point is just $1,850 for the Endurace CF!

Endurace CF SLX: The All-Road Race Bike

The CF SLX is where Canyon pushes the concept the furthest. This is the performance version (pretend the CFR doesn’t exist). This one takes everything learned from the CFR race bike and filters it into something more usable for everyday riders.

At a glance, it looks like a cleaner, slightly more relaxed aero bike. But the real trick is what’s going on under the surface.

Aero Meets Volume

One of the hardest things to balance in modern bike design is aero efficiency versus tire clearance. Bigger tires need space, especially around the fork crown, seat tube, and chainstays. Aero bikes want the opposite: tight gaps, clean airflow, minimal frontal area. The tubes and fork share the same shaping as Endurace CFR, but with less of an emphasis on stiffness and more on comfort and ride quality.

Canyon claims the CF SLX sits at around 209 watts of system drag at 45km/h, only a few watts behind its pure race bikes like the Endurace CFR.

It’s a big deal because it means this isn’t a “comfortable but slower” option. It’s still fast enough to justify choosing it over a dedicated race bike. A big justification, especially if you’re riding on anything less than perfect roads. And that’s where the 38mm tire clearance comes in.

38mm Clearance: Real World Upgrade

This is probably the most important number on the whole bike. Previous Endurace models already leaned wide, but this new version fully embraces the idea that 32mm is the starting point, not the limit.

Why does that matter?

Because wider tires:

 • Roll faster on imperfect surfaces
 • Allow lower pressures (more comfort, more grip)
 • Reduce fatigue over long distances
 • Expand where you can ride
 • Plus – I like taking my drop bar bikes mountain biking

The bike ships with 32mm tires, which makes sense. That’s the modern “fast road” setup. But the ability to push into the mid-30s opens up a completely different riding experience when the roads get rough or the route gets creative.

And unlike older endurance bikes, this one doesn’t feel like it’s compromising speed to get there.

The PACE Bar

Integrated cockpits have always been a bit of a double-edged sword. They look great, they can be faster, but once you cut that steerer tube, you’re locked in. Canyon’s PACE Bar system hopes to combat that, but also requires some adjustment and refinement.

The updated PACE bar has 50mm width adjustment, 20mm height adjustment, and a tool-based setup (no cutting, no brake bleeds). That last sentence is only valid if you don’t need to change the stem (or headset)…if you do crack a beer and get ready for some swearing. But overall, the pace bar is a nice feature.

Evolution of a Rider

Riders get stronger. More flexible. Or less flexible. Positions change. Goals shift. Having a cockpit that can adapt without requiring a full rebuild is a big deal, especially for a bike that’s meant to do everything.

The CF SLX comes stock with Compact Drops, which prioritize comfort and control over aggressive aero positioning. But the bars can be swapped out for others in the PACE lineup.

Riders can choose from Classic, Compact, and Aero drops, and upgrade to the one-piece cockpit, like the CFR, if they want.

Comfort That Preserves Speed

Canyon’s VCLS concept (Vertical Comfort, Lateral Stiffness) has been around for a while, but it gets a more performance-focused execution here.

The VCLS Aero seatpost on the CF SLX adds compliance without giving up aerodynamic efficiency. Canyon claims a noticeable increase in vertical flex compared to rigid posts, resulting in a smoother ride.

What if I don’t care about aero? First off – How dare you?! Second off, I totally get it, and it seems Canyon does, too. So the VCLS 2.0 is available (but only on the Endurace CF)

VCLS 2.0: Still One of Canyon’s Best Features

The CF gets the VCLS 2.0 seatpost, and honestly, this might be one of the best parts of the bike. It uses a leaf-spring design to deliver up to 20mm of vertical flex, taking the edge off rough roads without adding complexity.

In some ways, it’s even better suited to the CF than the aero post on the SLX. It’s simple, proven, and extremely effective for the kind of riding this bike encourages.

Real Riding: Storage, Fenders, & Practical Details

The CF SLX also gets Canyon’s LOAD downtube storage system, letting you stash tools, tubes, and ride essentials inside the frame. It’s one of those features that makes perfect sense once you use it. No saddle bag. No forgotten tools. Just a clean setup that’s always ready.

Add in compatibility with DEFEND Fast Fenders (I was a big fan during our rainy days in Belgium), and the bike becomes a legit four-season option. It’s not a “nice weather only” machine. The way I look at it, the CF SLX (review coming soon) is a ride-it-to-work-on-weekdays-and-race-on-the-weekends kinda vibe. The fast fenders help bring that into reality. And that’s a theme throughout the bike. Everything here is built to make riding easier, not just faster.

Geometry: More Stable, Same Feel

Canyon made subtle but meaningful geometry changes across the lineup.

Canyon Endurace CF SLX News Geo :Spec SLX

The chainstays and wheelbase are slightly longer, improving stability, especially at speed and on rough surfaces. At the same time, effective stack and reach remain almost unchanged, preserving the familiar Endurace fit.

Canyon Endurace CF SLX News Geo:Specs CL

The result is a bike that feels the same when you sit on it but is more planted when you ride it hard, especially on the cobbles (more on that in the review). Canyon is betting that it’s exactly what most riders want from an all-road machine.

Shorter Cranks All Around

Like the sweeping update that came with the Canyon Endurace CFR, the CF SLX, and the CF, the range moves to shorter crank lengths. For example, size M now gets 165mm cranks, and smaller sizes go as short as 160mm.

Canyon doesn’t see this as a trend, but rather as a fit improvement. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve been hit with the shorter cranks talking points on most weekend group rides.

 • Open hip angles
 • Reduce joint strain
 • Make higher cadence easier
 • Help riders maintain lower positions
 • Gives you something to talk about at cafe stops

No matter how you feel about the shorter crank movement, it’s gaining momentum, and lots of riders are jumping on.

New Canyon ED 42 CF Wheels

What would a launch be without a surprise second launch within the already large launch? The biggest “new” component in this launch isn’t the frame—it’s the wheels.

Canyon’s ED 42 CF carbon wheelset is built specifically around modern tire sizes and all-road riding.

Canyon ED 42 CF Wheel Details:

(Photo/Canyon)

If you can’t find what you want, you build it, and that’s what Canyon did. They crafted a new all-around wheel that enhances the bike’s performance and offers riders a slight upgrade. The new Canyon ED 42 CF wheels are 42mm deep, with a 25mm internal width and 33mm external width. They roll on the ever-reliable DT Swiss 350 hubs, with a stout (but sturdy) 1550g claimed weight.

Canyon says the 33mm external width also helps smooth airflow around a 32mm tire. But really, the 32mm tires feel great on most surfaces, and your backside will thank you. In other words, these wheels aren’t just an upgrade; they’re part of the bike’s overall ethos.

At €999 (~$1,100) aftermarket, they’re also priced to compete aggressively.

Canyon Endurace CF SLX & CF – Models & Pricing

Canyon Endurace CF SLX News header
(Photo/Jordan Villella)

Canyon continues to push aggressive pricing across both ranges, and with bikes coming in at laughably high prices, the CF series might be the dark horse to bet on.

Endurace CF SLX

 • CF SLX 7 AXS / 7 Di2 – $4,350
 • CF SLX 8 Di2 – $4,900
 • CF SLX 9 Di2 – $7,600

For us, the standout here is the CF SLX 7 AXS, which pairs wireless shifting with Canyon’s new carbon wheels at the entry point of the SLX range.

Endurace CF

 • CF 5 – $1,850
 • CF 7 – $2,400
 • CF 7 AXS – $3,050
 • CF 8 Di2 – $3,600

The CF 8 Di2 looks like the value sweet spot. It has electronic shifting, carbon wheels, and the full feature set without creeping into high-end pricing. But the entry-level CF 5 with Shimano Cues might be the deal of the year for a carbon do-it-all bike.

The Smarter Buy? Endurace CF

(Photo/Canyon)

While the CF SLX gets most of the attention, the CF lineup might actually be where things get really interesting. Because it keeps the parts that matter most, and drops the parts that don’t.

You still get the updated carbon frame (though no aero seatpost). You get 38mm tire clearance for extra fun and the updated Endurace geometry. Plus mounts for bags and fenders to make the Endurace a commuterace (get what I did there?).

Either way you slice it, Canyon is betting pretty hard that the endurance sector of riding and racing is gonna hit a boom soon. The CFR-level Endurace showed us that a comfortable bike isn’t slow, and that even World Tour-level riders are moving towards larger tires. This iteration of the Canyon Endurace is the purest expression of what the bike should be. Not a watered-down road machine, but a bike that riders can tackle a gauntlet of disciplines with, and ride to the office on Monday.

Full review coming soon.

The latest Allied ECHO has massively increased tire clearance from the prior version, which limited you to a paltry 30mm and was billed as a road bike that could also work as a gravel bike. That was in 2021.

My how things have changed, and the new ECHO is their answer to the way we’re riding road bikes these days. If you’re hunting for that one drop bar quiver, here’s what you need to know…

front angle view of allied echo road bike.

The frame weighs 790g (size 56) and clears tires up to 700x45mm, allowing you to maintain speed and comfort on everything fromon smooth pavement to champagne gravel to properly loose and washboardy detours. The geometry still has a fast, road-first feel, just subtly rebalanced for 32-45mm tires and long-distance comfort on a variety of surfaces.

front angle view of allied echo road bike cockpit.

A new HB10 carbon handlebar is paired with their ST03 stem (on Red and Force builds) creates a fully integrated, aero front end. The frame fits 1x and 2x drivetrains, electronic only, with a removable front derailleur hanger to keep single chainring builds clean, and 55-tooth compatible for mashers. UDH lets you run any rear mech you want.

The ECHO has a third bottle cage mount under the downtube, plus a dedicated frame bag mounting point under the top tube. These additions extend ride range without affecting the bike’s handling dynamics. The ECHO is available in four build configurations ranging from $6,820 (SRAM Rival XPLR AXS) to $11,030 (SRAM Red XPLR AXS), with a frameset option at $4,500.

“Road riding has changed, and ECHO reflects that,” said Sam Pickman, Director of Product and Engineering at Allied Cycle Works. “We kept performance at the center and expanded what the bike can handle. This is still a fast, precise road machine — it just goes further, across more surfaces, with more confidence.”

The new Allied ECHO comes in six sizes -47, 52, 54, 56, 58, 61cm- and four colors. Four complete bike builds are available, prices range from $6,820 (SRAM Rival XPLR AXS) to $11,030 (SRAM Red XPLR AXS), with a frameset option at $4,500.
