In the local scene around me everyone is either racing the hot bikes from 2017/18, racing lower categories on their gravel bikes, or riding new Treks. Everyone else giving up on CX has been a great Boon(e) for Trek.

If S isn’t making a dedicated cross bike what does that say about cyclocross as a sport? Is this just something that they are moving away from? Is it just too niche now that the gravel craze is taking over? I don’t really know as a person who doesn’t ride cross but I know there are die hard crossers out there and they have to be let down by losing one of the better choices of cross bikes out there. Or let me guess, they will still make a cross bike and just call it something else. Maybe they’ll call it the venge?

That’s a non-starter for me since a lot of the “gravel” near home includes grades up to 14% with singletrack descents that are just as steep. If the “gravel” category follows other bike trends it will end up with steeper single track sections in races before the next generational update to the Crux 6.
