People’s Assembly
AAE organized a community Peoples Assembly in Mbooni Makueni County to share their grievances with the county government. The emphasis of the assembly was occasioned by perennial water shortage in the areas as a result of drought. Through the CBO, the people voiced their plight. The following was suggested A Letter of Action to HE The Governor and area MCA;
- Clean water for All – The cost of getting water had become more expensive than the cost of getting food. Urged the county government to consider sinking boreholes in the location to supplement the existing few seasonal springs.
- End the suffering: – due to the water shortage, residents were travelling up to five kilometres to fetch drinking water. The elderly, pregnant women and those people living with disability were most affected. Provision of water using bowsers would alleviate the suffering.
